After what seems like years, to me at least, it seems that Alexa has noticed us. Yeah, the pretty girl noticed the tall, good looking quiet kid in the corner, big deal right?
It is a big deal.
Since Mid-December, we have been climbing those Alexa rankings like our lives depended on it, and depending on how you look at the situation, your blog may depend on Alexa to live. Bizstudent is not one of those however. To us, Alexa is a nice perk that perhaps will entice a few more advertisers, and get us some notariety as a publisher in several of the big publisher networks.
I am going to hypothesize at this point and guess that most of the credit should go to Entrecard, but I’m not giving them the prize yet. Since December, I have made 3 major changes to the blog, and I haven’t quite figured out if one specific one or all of them, are causing the increased traffic and better rankings. You may remember that the 3 changes I made were the new theme, the Entrecard addition, and the frequency of posting started to pick up. I am starting to suspect that it may be a combination of all 3 because the new theme has way better code for SEO purposes, more posts means more crawling, and entrecard is pretty much free constant traffic.
Before I say for sure, I’m going to do a little investigating so I can keep doing what I am doing. Shame Alexa can’t even tell me what I am doing right because I’m not in the top 100,000. Oh Well.
I will report back from my findings, 4 different analytics services should be enough to help right?
Also, if anyone has any words of wisdom regarding Alexa, do not hesitate to share them. Begging and Groveling here.
