Why is it important to comment?

by Jack on August 8, 2007

Over the last month, we here at BizStudent have been making various improvements to the blog, mostly in the content and SEO areas.

However, SEO and content did not drive the most visitors to the blog.

After examining my statistics over at Reinvigorate, I realized that I was getting the most traffic and attention from blogs that I had visited and commented on.

Why is it important to comment then?

Well, besides the fact that it provided a source of traffic for my blog - in my opinion, by taking the time to comment on others blogs, it shows them that you have taken a genuine interest in their blog. If the comments are intellegent, and not spammish, then it is very likely that you will get some attention in return for the attention you gave. If you continue to make insightful comments on a regular basis, you may even begin to obtain a reputation for yourself, and this will help the rise in traffic even further.

For Example:

Netbusinessblog - a fellow business blog I read daily, keeps their top commenters plugin running non-stop. If you venture over to their site, you will see that I have over 50 comments there, and all were ingihtful and topic related.
